The Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology is located in the Second floor of the academic building of the college. The department provides a multidisciplinary and international environment that promotes enriching interactions among faculty, postdoctoral fellows, staff and graduate students....read more...
Pharmaceutics is concerned with the strategies by which biologically active compounds are presented to the body so as to elicit an optimal response. Included are the design, preparation and testing of drug-delivery systems. There are two major areas of emphasis found in the current research in the Department of Pharmaceutics at JSS College of Pharmacy Novel Drug Delivery (Nanotechnology based SR, CR & Targeted delivery and Biopharmaceutics (drug formulation, physical/industrial pharmacy, mechanisms and modeling of drug transport, molecular and cellular pharmaceutics) & Pharmacokinetics(Rate process, ADME Kinetics)......read more...
The universal role of drugs of biological origin in the treatment of disease is exemplified by their employment in all the major systems of medicine. Pharmacognosy is a specific discipline deals with the rapid developments in the knowledge and utilization of medicinal substances of biological origin (plant, microorganism and animal products) used in human and vertenary purpose. This subject provides information about the principles and procedures used in the identification, authentication, extraction, isolation of active consituents by chromatography techniques, purification and development of herbal formulations and assay methods for the isolated constituents....read more ....
Pharmacology is the scientific discipline that, in the attempt to improve health and alleviate disease, studies the mechanisms by which drugs alter biological systems. Toxicology is the study of mechanisms by which drugs and chemicals in the environment produce unwanted effects. Together these disciplines encompass the molecular basis of drug action, the actions of drugs on cells, organs and organisms, genetic variations in drug action and drug discovery....read more...
The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is one of the eight academic units in the College of Pharmacy. Its teaching missions include instruction in Pharmaceutical Chemistry to the students of post graduate (M.Pharm) programs and undergraduate (B.Pharm), besides supporting research scholars to the award of their Ph.D. degree. The Department’s research enterprise is diverse, with both basic science and clinical interests in medicinal chemistry, natural products, drug discovery, structural biology, molecular biology, analytical chemistry, computational chemistry, LC-MS analysis and target bioassays, chemical toxicology, and others.....read more...
The Department of Phytopharmacy and Phytomedicine was started under TIFAC CORE, in the year 2001, to meet the specialized demands of human resource requirements of pharmaceutical industry and organizations engaged in the development of herbal drugs. The curriculum, designed in consultation with the herbal industry experts, includes advanced Pharmacognosy, Herbal drug development and standardization, Indian systems of medicine.... read more...
