Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry

The Department of Pharmaceutical chemistry is one of the eight academic units in the College of Pharmacy. Its teaching missions include instruction in Pharmaceutical Chemistry to the students of post graduate (M.Pharm) programs and undergraduate (B.Pharm), besides supporting research scholars to the award of their Ph.D. degree. The Department’s research enterprise is diverse, with both basic science and clinical interests in medicinal chemistry, natural products, drug discovery, structural biology, molecular biology, analytical chemistry, computational chemistry, LC-MS analysis and target bioassays, chemical toxicology, and others.

Indo German bilateral project entitled ‘Targeting anticancer Macromolecular pro-drugs to specific cells’ in collaboration with University of Regensburg, Germany.

Indo Argentina bilateral research entitled "Targeting Anti Cancer Macromolecular pro-drugs" with the Faculty of Biochemcial and Pharmaceutical Sciences, National University of Rosario, Argentina.

  • Screening and evaluation of anticancer potential from herbal resources of Nilgiris (Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India).

  • Synthesis of novel heterocycles for biological activities

  • Drug development through natural products

  • Molecular modeling and drug design

  • Development of Polymeric Drug Delivery Systems.
